Digital workflow – colour, bit depth & layer masks

 

 In the second workshop with Louis Little, we looked at colour profiles, but depth and layer mask function to play on images on Photoshop.

The image above showing the range of colour that human can identify, and the area of both Adobe RGB & sRGB. The table below simply indicated that the comparison between Adobe RGB &sRGB, furthermore, how the application of them to use in computer system.

Then Little talked about bit depth, which is pixel of an image and related to the size of print such as 32 bit is the best depth so far, and 4 bit normally used as a gif image.

Continuing explaining bits on Photoshop, it is shown on the bottom of camera raw when you do editing.

By clicking it, you could edit and check the information.

We also went through the crop function and using straight line function then the way of applying layer mask to change the area you want.

 

I have gained lots of practical skills and knowledge from this session, some of them I’ve been familiar with but not fully understand, however, through his explanation, I easily get the definition well and the ability with how should I use those effects he mentioned to adjust my images. This workshop is really helpful, learning a lot from it.
